Cryptids + Cider 2025 Recap
Kimmy Hammons  •  5/2/2026

As the season changes and flowers start to pop up in late April, so do artists’ markets throughout the west coast. And who doesn’t love a good artist market? A place where you can find a collection of nick-nacks from local talent, enjoy some good old sour dough, and find a new favorite artist that’s probably a friend of a friend. Now if you’re like me and you’ve been to pretty much every artist market in the utah valley you’ve learned that not all artists markets are the same. Some feel poorly planned, with multiple pyramid scheme booths or a few too many of those 3d printed dragons that seem to be at every other event.

Thankfully.. Not all events are like that and like an alien coming down from a holy ship light there is one here to save the day. Past the poorly thrown together overpriced markets there is one filled with themed cocktails/mocktails, paranormal and folklore lovers, a live cryptid show and that’s all in the heart of Strange Lake City.

I’m here to present to you Cryptids + Cider.

This year Aloreing Podcast & Mountain west cider got together to host their first annual Cryptids + Cider Artist Market! Full of local talent that had a nack for cryptids, the strange and unusual and a great time. There were tons of artists who had all brought their own folklore inspired creations that were perfect for the theme of the event!

Mountain West Cider pulled out all the stops and created some themed drinks just for the event inspired by some classic cryptids!

(Left to Right | Old Briney Tequila, grapefruit, lime, prickly pear cider; Big Foot Mocktail Pomegranate juice, rosemary simple, ginger beer; Chupacabra Cinnamon whiskey, orange juice, maple syrup, Cottonwood cider; The Jackalope Apple whiskey, lemon, ginger beer

While everyone was enjoying a drink of their choice and shopping they got to take a moment to listen to a live show of Aloreing! Salt Lake City’s small town podcast where they talk all about Cryptids & Folklore legends from around the world. For their live show they did a special ‘hear me out cake’ just for Ryan’s birthday. Talking all about Cryptids and folklore legends they would ‘risk it all for’.. You can fill in the doots ;). You can listen to the episode here

Every hour they did giveaway prizes so everyone part of the market had a chance to win a prize. Not only were people supporting the local market but they were helping support something great!

The event was a huge success and they say how they can’t wait to come back next year and do another event with the folks at mountain west cider.

“The turn out was honestly better than we expected. Who would have thought that Small Lake City was so into the strange and unusual? It was so much fun seeing everyone show up dressed as mothman and excited to see all the cryptid inspired creations the vendors made!”
